For the record, here's just a few to jog your memory. Automan, Streethawk, Airwolf, Friday the 13th The Series, Manimal, Riptide, Max Hedrom, Greatest American Hero, Amazing Stories, Young Indiana Jones, T.J. Hooker, and Starman. Just a few. I mean there are always exceptions to the rule. The A-Team last four seasons and then shows like one of my favorites Quantum Leap had a great run. The truth is for the most part sci fi and fantasy shows got the boot relatively quick. Thank God for the nineties and new millennium. They led full tilt into the world of Sci fi. When Star Trek returned with the New Generation, Sci Fi was given new life with shows like Quantum Leap, Sliders, X-Files, and many others. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that the BBC had always done well with Sci-Fi, however I didn't have BBC as a kid, so Doctor Who and Black Adder were not in my vocabulary.
Okay, so what I'm trying to say is this: to all you kids who believe Fringe and Supernatural, and any other shows in the genre are the end all be all in Sci-Fi. Take a step back and thank the fallen shows along the way that paved the way for all these great shows. If not for the Streethawks' and the Automan's, we would not have Stargate SG-1 million or Galactica or even Lost. So take time out and give a hand to the gone but not forgotten Misfits of Science! OH and when are we going to get to see all these on DVD:?
